RAHMAN's Rhythm for week of October 08, 2007
Age
-
We are all conscious of it and govern ourselves by it. Yes, it is a physical condition and apart of the natural order of life. All things age and time is forever continuous. There is no escaping this process. However, mentality plays a role in chronology sometimes.
-
Age is defined as the length of time during which a being or thing has existed;a period of life measured by years of birth. Now that is concrete, a physical fact.
-
Now let’s discuss individuals who seem to defy age with their spirit. We all know them, grandparents or friends who well over the age of retirement or “the settling down” time, but continue to be active and travel and enjoy life as if they are much younger; almost childlike in their gleefulness.
-
They tend to view age and life having lived much longer than the rest of us in a different way and through very seasoned eyes. They are comfortable with who and what they are. They have relationships that have stood and endured the test of time. They are good to themselves and less judgmental of others. For those who have reached this stage of their lives, there is great freedom. Issues and circumstances that used to be so important that would normally plague you or I, is no longer paramount.
-
Life experiences and age has made them strong, caring, and gives them something that normally comes with time---Wisdom. Although the body changes and wrinkles, the creator has blessed them to have lived to make it to this point. Think about the many who will never reach this stage of life.
-
Find the time to spend and learn from these mental marvels who have endured to share about eras past. They are the best archival material one could ever have. The statement is old but certainly true, “You will never know where you are going if you have no knowledge of where you have been." My advice would be to find the “opportunity” to spend the time.
-
Age can be cruel as well. The knowledge, wisdom, and experience can be forever lost due to the very same factor. So love and respect them for it was “they” who paved the way for us all.
