Words and Language
-
For those of us over thirty, we can recall sayings such as, "Sticks and Stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me".
-
Cute saying and most of us tried to follow and live by what it describes. However, nothing could be further from the truth. Words and language does affect the mind and behavior. If you teach an individual, whether it is a child or an adult, something be it positive or negative, and enough reinforcement along with it, the individual will take in the lesson and apply it to their lives on some level.
-
When an individual is constantly told good things, encouragement, about personality, achievements, physical appearance, etc; they raise to the definition of positive mentality in regard to his/her own self image.
-
The same is true for the reverse. Think of friends, family, people you have come in contact with throughout your life, in some cases even yourself, someone said something negative to you on a regular basis, regardless of it being true or false, and you have internalized it in your mind.
-
There are a mlllion examples which touch man and woman, from every walk of existence, with no bearing on economics, culture, race or corner of the world.
-
Words and language does affect people. We must be forever aware of this and create new and more appropriate and accurate sayings for our next generations. And with that thought, it takes us back to the true mental savior--Education.
-
Education is more than school. Education is more than reading a book. It is the knowledge that is obtained through the experience of learning and what is ultimately done with it. Through education there are limitless possibilities. Once applied to your mental and embraced into your daily life can propel you anywhere. Keep in mind that the learning process never ends and that it must be applied to common sense.
-
Knowledge continues to be power.
