Balance

In life, love, work, family, and play, we all need a sense of balance. For sanity sake, there MUST be a sense of balance. One cannot be totally consumed by only one facet of life. For mental health, we must engage in all the facets that make us who we are. Time for the people and activities that gives us purpose and brings us the most happiness.

It is quite understandable how we get caught up in the act of providing for our wants and needs. However, we must not lose sight of the true "whys". Home, family, and our personal interests are the motivations for why we all work so hard, but we must keep it all in proper perspective. Time is a precious commodity. So much of it is lost and can never be recovered, which is why maintaining balance is so very important. Be it our personal or professional relationships, which are vitally important and paramount for proper mental health.

Today, more than any other time, our children need us. Our partners need us. Our families need us. Life is hectic, we are all well aware of this reality. However, a balance must be maintained. Create a schedule, outline your goals, pencil in times, and make a point to stick to it. Don't become a stranger to the people and things that you love the most.
