The protection of our children.

The first and foremost way of protecting our children and ensuring their safety is to properly educate them. EDUCATION, in any of its positive forms can erase ignorance. The ignorance that affects us from a health perspective, HIV and AIDS, and the high percentages in regard to our women and children.

Proper education can still prepare our children to cope and understand economics. Having this knowledge can combat the welfare mentality and poverty. Educate our children regarding history and culture and let them know there is more to us than rap and basketball. That we are an enduring people with a rich history and great lineage. Although Dr. King is a wonderful figure in our history, which is American History, there are others like W.E.B. Dubois and James Baldwin, Russell Simmons, and Oprah Winfrey.

Lastly and realistically, we must teach our children about RACISM. It is alive and well in our country and in our world. It is a global mentality. We must recognize it but not let it control us, our work, our interactions and our life. We combat it through intelligence, common sense, understanding and education.
