The Black Woman

Do we blame her? Or, do we blame the nail artist (who we can best believe is not an African American Woman or Man) who created it and is getting paid, paid, paid, and then paid again? We are in control of our present and future. Wake Up!"

Please my sisters, take a look at the photo. A very good friend shared this with me and to my distain, I looked...

Do we know embrace this kind of madness? Of course, our new president is to be celebrated and supported. However, is this the way? Please do not minimize the man, his family, or his mission. This is a defining moment in history. Not just because our new president is a man of color, but more. He truly represents us all. He is the embodiment of our nation, from his heritage to his ideals. Let's not make him an antidote or the negative type of conversation that we use to close a family discussion after dinner. I believe we all know what I mean.

I couldtn reply on the site, but I did want to say I dotn think the person was tryign to minimize his status by gettign ehr nails doen like that. I believe she was emphasizing how glad she is that he is our president. The same as people with t-shirts, calendars, pins, bumper stickers, etc. It doesnt matter that a person of color did not do the design, it is what they were able to do. A diversity of people voted for him (including myself). If I read what you were implying wrong, forgive me.

Embrace our First Family with the standards he is and family is able to show us all as a human race. Be proud and display your admiration Yes. Because of this historical moment our children have a higher standard presented in a manner that is shown visually and verbally in good taste. I believe my comment was very broad and so much could have been said. In short we need to put the same energy and support in our own communities, business and nieghborhoods. Whatever we do as a people should always be in good taste, we are a representation of ourselves and the generations to come. As far as your interpretation or your reply it certainly was not wrong because you are who are and that is what helps us all learn from one another. We are all different and entitled to our opinions.

This photo was sent to me and I sent it on also. I must admit I was not pleased at all when I saw this. I don't think the lady meant any disrespect and just sought to display on the outside what she felt inside. But I do feel that its more than a little tacky and thats' just my opinion. Outward displays of pride, respect etc.... are nothing new but like MsLadyMM says we must temper our enthusiasm with wisdom and restraint so that such demonstrations stay within the realm of good taste.
