The Election

I know everyone will be glad when this whole election has come to an end. It has been stressful and unfortunately has divided our country and more importantly our households and communities. Now I say this not to be entirely negative but as a sincere observation. In an ideal world, Democrats and Republicans would be trying to work together to resolve the horrific economic and social problems that we face as a nation, not fighting each other on character and judgment. I understand it’s an election and with that meaning it’s a competition and that makes individuals rivals.

However the smear tactics that have come out of this have been ridiculous. Race again has become a topic, especially when the discussion comes over to our Democrat Nominee Senator Barack Obama. Now the word is he’s an Arab and a socialist. How did that happen? The raging of the uneducated. Let’s deal with this intelligently. One, who are they trying to insult? Obama or people of Arab Decent? One, there is nothing wrong with being an Arab. Arabs are a group of people from the middle east that work and thrive like the rest of us, of all colors, backgrounds, and faiths, some Christian, some Muslims, etc. Let’s also be clear that they are evil or bad individuals in all groups of people, black, white, red, brown, “purple”. Not all Jews, Christians or Muslims, etc are good people and not all are bad people.

We cannot condemn an entire group of people for the actions of a few. Let me make it simple. If there a 10 million people in a group, and 500 hundred are dirty, does that make everyone dirty? We basically have to do whatever we can to clean, “by all means necessary” the dirty. If we continue to think and react in the way we are presently doing, as a society, especially here, in the United States, we will never evolve beyond our current state, mentally, socially, or emotionally.

I don’t believe that Republican John McCain is an evil man. I do believe he is a little behind the times. His comments during the second presidential debate could have been perceived as belittling and condescending and borderline racist. As a people we must continue to get past these labels and move toward being a unified people regardless of political affiliations. We should look at the policies and beliefs of both candidates; see which best fits into our lifestyles and which would better help you and your family. The chief concern at this time for us all should be the Economy, not the lies or messages of hate and deceit. Not the false messages of “pals around with terrorists or the other atmosphere that promotes “Lynching Behavior” possibly.

Please discuss this topic with your family and friends. Please don’t forget to vote. Please be aware of at this day and time, we all must be apart of the political process and vote. Moving forward we must work with our political leaders to resolve our national and global issues
