God in Our Country

Have you noticed that God is under attack in our country? This is not a new topic, but it is in my estimation an incredible one.

Now, please follow me, although I am a God-fearing and moral individual, I do not claim to be over religious by any stretch of the imagination. I do find it odd that a nation founded on the principles that most monotheistic faiths hold dear, now allow Atheist Groups to dictate to the rest of us what we can say, write, watch, and display in public forums.

Court buildings, television shows, and schools have all been “upgraded” to eliminate the word “God” or the use of any religious scriptures, mainly the Bible. This all came about a few years ago because of Madeline Murray O’Hare---an Atheist, who won a court case that forbid the reading of Biblical scriptures in public schools. Her organization is now currently in process of getting a Federal hearing on the same subject. If granted, it would pave the way to stop the reading of the Bible on the public airwaves of America.

It was also brought to my attention that the popular television “Touched by An Angel” was discontinued, because they used the word “God” on every program. Again, there are limits to everything. We watch movies that promote violence, foul language, sometimes rape, the cruelty of children and the elderly; ultimately basic negativity. I don’t see anyone going to court to stop these type of things.

This is not just a fight for people of the Christian faith. I believe this is war for all faiths that believe in freedom, justice, and equality; the belief in God; the belief in family and community; and positive propagation of what is right. All this is taught to us in some form from who….you guessed it “God.” This should not be about color or creed. It should be about the fundamental right and belief in God or a supreme being that individuals look to for faith and guidance. How do you tell children they cannot pray before a meal or before a game? Who is offended by this and why should God-fearing people care? I think that we have allowed the freedom of choice and speak to go too far in this matter. Yes, people should be allowed to think and feel as they please, but the last time I checked, those of us who believe in “God” out-number those who do not. I am not promoting one particular faith, but again, it is safe to say, WE ALL BELIEVE IN GOD.

Lastly this is not my opinion, it is a fact. There a more Christians, Jews, and Muslims in America and in the World, than are Atheists. We should start acting like it.

Thanks, Rah!! You are absolutely right, and unless the God-fearing people of this country stand up with our fellow believers, all will get washed down the lovely toilet!! This country was founded on Godly principles, as so written in our constitution and other documents that our founding fathers proclaimed. So we all need to let our government know we are not going to sit idly by and let all that God gave us and continues to bless us with daily go away!! I support many religious groups that teach the Bible as the main Word of God! I hope we as fellow Christians all do our part to let the government know enough is enough!! Amen!!

It’s funny…………I don’t claim to be so righteous……….but honestly, our society has a lot of tolerance for truly bad behavior. I think we need to get back to basics……..as you point out…………honesty, integrity, responsible behavior, etc…………..of course, we might occasionally slip up……… J

Sad but true. This has been happening over a long period of time and its pathetic that people are being told to be ashamed or afraid of expressing their beliefs in God and Christianity. We have gone too far with our so-called separation of Church and State. Being "Politically Correct" and schmoozing up to radical Middle Eastern sects that denounce everything Christian or American. I don't feel any need to apologize for being either. I can respect anyones' beliefs - as long as no one is being harmed as a result. This push away from God and the basic commandments is a huge mistake. Just look at the state the world is in. Look how easy it is for human beings to commit the worst atrocities conceivable upon each other and any other living creature. We don't even respect the planet that sustains all of our lives. Nothing good has or will come from turning away from the basic tenets of any true Religion.

Hey Roc... I agree with the comments. The Kingdom of God is under attack and those who beleive and call on the name of God need to act like it. The fight is fixed, we just have to act like.
